Family Safety Trailer, Hazard House, Senior Citizen Fire Safety
The Family Fire Safety House is just one of the finest assets the
Community Services Bureau has to offer to the public. Its versatility
allows the Public Education Department to offer educational programs in
a real life type situation. This is an outdoor activity and is conducted
in only good, dry weather. It is unavailable during winter months. The
Smoke Detector Program allows for activation of a smoke detector to
simulate an actual fire and then Educators take participants through an
escape plan with two ways out. It can be geared toward all ages, mostly
the younger groups. The Fire Sprinkler Protection Program allows
participants to observe the operation of a sprinkler system after
Educators start an actual fire in the Family Safety House sprinkler
room. The Kitchen Safety Program and Calling 911 programs teach common
sense applications for general preparedness around the home. This adds
to the overall effectiveness and educational value of our Family Safety
House.
The Hazard House program is geared toward kids aged 9 and under, it is
an indoor program that teaches the basic fire safety message with the
children pointing out particular hazards and how to correct them in an
actual home set up on a tabletop. This house can be made for specific
areas, rural, urban, farms, etc.
The Senior Citizen Fire Safety program educates individuals on cooking,
falls, smoking, smoke alarms, candles and space heaters. |
