|
The Fire Prevention Bureau consists of 40 employees. We are responsible
for the development and enforcement of Fire Codes to protect life and
property within Nashville and Davidson County. The county consists of
533 square miles that is divided into 12 inspection zones. The
Inspectors assigned to those zones are responsible for all new
construction inspections as well as existing building inspections that
are done on a priority based rotating schedule. We have 5 Inspectors
assigned to specialized occupancy inspections such as Hospitals and
Nursing Homes, Schools, Day Care Centers, Industrial inspections, etc.
We have 2 construction Plans Examiners and 1 sprinkler Plans Examiner.
Two Inspectors are assigned to new construction sprinkler inspection. We
review plans for construction, inspect for code compliance during
construction and test all fire protection systems prior to occupancy
approval. Six Fire Investigators are responsible for fire investigations
of every structure fire within the county. The remainder of the office
consists of supervisory and support staff. |
